The last ten days have been a mixed bag for my clients and I. Some mornings, the turkeys seem to be everywhere and just as vocal as you could hope for, while others are eerily quiet with barely a gobble.

Learning Opportunities
There are a lot of things that sometimes have to go right in attempting to harvest ole Tom. To decoy or not to decoy? Is your setup a good one? Did you leave yourself good sight lines and shooting lanes to get a makable shot on a longbeard? These are just a few of the things that make hunting for wild turkeys challenging but immensely rewarding when it all works out.
Early Season
We're two days in to the spring turkey hunting seasons in Vermont and New Hampshire, and it's been a bit of a challenge so far. The weather, in short, has not cooperated to this point, as we have had our share of low pressure (showery yesterday and thunderstorms early this morning) fronts moving through the last two days.
