We're two days in to the spring turkey hunting seasons in Vermont and New Hampshire, and it's been a bit of a challenge so far. The weather, in short, has not cooperated to this point, as we have had our share of low pressure (showery yesterday and thunderstorms early this morning) fronts moving through the last two days.

As many of us in northern New Hampshire and Vermont suspected, it was one of the tougher autumns we've had for grouse-finding success, but thankfully the resident and migrating woodcock provided plenty of excitement for the hunters in October.

A very eventful last few days in the northern New Hampshire grouse and woodcock woods lately. We have had some decent weather, with some moisture and cool mornings for the dogs to run in, and the birds have been somewhat cooperative for the hunters. Thankfully, the woodcock are still around and are providing good action for us as we move towards the end of the month.
